In this age of computer technology it may come as no surprise that home automation has never been easier. What was once a figment of the imagination stemming from science fiction movies has now become common practice in many homes in North America and Europe. Home automation has now come to South Africa, and it’s not that expensive. It is now well within many an individual’s reach to be able to control any household electrical device from the comfort of an armchair, or even to have such devices controlled by input from sensors.
These include simple timers, occupancy sensors that detect movement or heat from a person, or photo-sensors that adjust light levels based on the amount of ambient daylight. It is also possible to install sensors that operate devices by voice, sound or even remote control by a mobile phone, computer, or a standard remote control.
Home automation may typically be used for the control of such items as:
- The home’s lighting systems
- The audio-visual systems
- All air-conditioning and climate control
- Irrigation of outdoor plants, lawns and indoor plants.
- Access control and security devices
- Swimming pool pump
- Any other electrical appliances
The latest wireless gadgets and accessories available make your standard of living much higher. Wireless accessories may now be used where once there were wires connecting each component of your security system. For little more than R100 you can have a powerful emergency light that comes on and is portable whenever the mains electricity fails. There are so many home automation products on the market today that it is possible to automate most of your home for a very reasonable cost.

Fast Wall Systems has acquired an excellent reputation with their unique and patented building blocks, which not only look good on the eye, but they are quick and easy to install.

Incorporated in November 2000, in Bloemfontein, constructing fences this way, only takes 3-4 days where the conventional building method can take 4-5 weeks; not only that, the blocks can also be used for constructing pergolas, patios, carports, and structural columns as well as for decorative purposes. This building method is patented and covered with registered functional and aesthetical designs.
The demand for Fast Wall products has grown tremendously, and home owners are securing their houses with this unique and convenient building method, adding value and attractiveness to any home or office block.
